Description
This Pompeii and Amalfi Coast day trip from Rome packs three very different places into one long day, with the coach doing the driving. You meet at a central point in Rome, settle into the air-conditioned seats (Wi-Fi is on board) and watch the countryside go by on the way south.
First comes Pompeii. A professional archaeologist guides you through the ruined city that Vesuvius buried under ash, with skip-the-line entry to the Archaeological Park and the volcano in the background of your photos. There is time to buy lunch here; food is not included. The site involves a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes help.
The coach then takes the scenic road along the Amalfi Coast, with stops at its small towns, before reaching Sorrento.
- Pompeii Archaeological Park, with an archaeologist guide
- Amalfi Coast by road, with viewpoint stops
- Sorrento, with free time for its churches, streets and pottery shops
- A limoncello tasting at a local distillery
A tour leader stays with the group all day, in English or Spanish depending on the option you pick, and the coach takes you back to the Rome meeting point. A private version covering Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano is also offered. The trip is not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users.
