Description
An Appian Way golf cart tour takes you to Ancient Rome outside the busy city centre. You climb into an eco-friendly electric golf cart at the meeting point by the Pantheon and ride out along one of the most important roads of the Roman Empire, with a driver-guide explaining what you pass.
The route stops at the viewpoint over the Circus Maximus and at the Baths of Caracalla, then follows the Appian Way itself. You halt at a grand ancient tomb and walk on the same paving stones Romans used for centuries. The underground highlight is the Roman Catacombs: a guided walk of about half an hour, led by one of the Catacombs' own guides, through an early Christian burial site.
On the way back the cart drives alongside the well-preserved Aurelian Walls, the fortifications that once protected the city.

Groups are small, up to 14 people in two carts that travel together. The Catacombs involve uneven ground and steep stairs, and it is cool and humid inside. Children from 2 to 12 are welcome. Hotel pick-up and tips are not included.
