Description
On this Colosseum arena floor guided tour (with the arena option selected) you stand where the action happened. You enter through the gladiators' gate and walk onto a partly rebuilt section of the arena floor, and you see the Arch of Constantine.
Your guide tells how the amphitheatre was built and what went on there across the centuries. From the edge of the floor you can peer into the underground level, with the chamber that held wild animals, the trap door where they were released and the passages the gladiators used. Senators' seats are pointed out close up.
- Colosseum, including the arena floor with the right option
- Roman Forum, where politics and public life of the ancient city unfolded
- Palatine Hill, with entry tickets to all three sites included
Plan on two and a half to three hours. The order can change between Colosseum first or Forum first, and the tour runs in rain or shine. Security checks at every entrance can take time in busy periods. Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility.
