Description

One Palazzo Barberini and Galleria Corsini ticket covers two Roman palaces of the national art galleries: Baroque halls with Caravaggio and Raphael, and a noble collection hung as in the 1700s.

A Palazzo Barberini and Galleria Corsini ticket opens both Roman homes of the national collection of ancient art, the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica, with one purchase. The palaces stand in different parts of Rome, so you plan the transport between them. Together the collections run from the 1200s to the 1700s.

Palazzo Barberini is a Baroque palace that the powerful Barberini family had built in the 1600s, shaped by Carlo Maderno, Bernini and Borromini. Inside, look for Bernini's monumental staircase, Borromini's spiral one, the state rooms with the papal apartments, and the ceiling painted by Pietro da Cortona, The Triumph of Divine Providence.

  • Caravaggio, with Judith Beheading Holofernes
  • Raphael, with La Fornarina
  • Guido Reni, with Beatrice Cenci
  • A portrait of Henry VIII by Holbein and an Annunciation by Filippo Lippi

Galleria Corsini is in Trastevere, in a palace from the 1700s. It is the one gallery in Rome that preserves a private noble collection as it was first arranged, so the paintings hang as they did in the 1700s. Look for Caravaggio's Saint John the Baptist, Rubens, Van Dyck and Murillo, and the Corsini family apartments.

The Barberini entry is for the date and time you pick. The Corsini entry can be used on another day within 20 days of the first visit. Both close on Mondays, and the temporary exhibition is not included.
