Description
A Palazzo Colonna ticket takes you inside a Roman residence that the Colonna family still owns, and which opens to the public only on limited occasions. The ticket is self-guided, with no live guide, and it covers four parts of the palace.
You begin in the Galleria Colonna, a Baroque gallery with frescoed ceilings, large mirrors, marble decoration and an outstanding collection of paintings. It was made to show the power and standing of the family, and it is considered one of the finest galleries in Rome.
Next come the Princess Isabelle Apartments, elegant rooms with historic furniture and family collections, kept in their original state, much as the princess left them. The route continues to the Pio Pavilion, a quieter corner of the palace with refined interiors, artworks and family heirlooms that show a more personal side of the Colonna story.
