Description
On this Roman Forum and Palatine Hill guided tour, your guide walks you through Rome's story from its first settlements to the height of the empire in an hour and a half. It starts at the Arch of Constantine, among the biggest triumphal arches Rome ever built, and carries on into the Forum.
The stops are chosen to tell stories. You hear about the Vestal Virgins, visit their garden and the temple of the goddess, and the Basilica Julia and the Roman penal system come up too. At the Arch of Titus the subject is the sack of Jerusalem, and in the Senate House you hear how senators decided the Republic's fate, a story that ends with Julius Caesar's murder and cremation.
Then you climb the Palatine Hill, where Romulus and Remus are said to have founded the city and which later became an exclusive address. From its terrace you look over the Colosseum and down on the Circus Maximus. The Circus is seen from above only, you do not walk through it.
Forum and Palatine admission and headsets are included, and you can choose a group or a private option. When the guide leaves, you can stay in the Forum as long as you like. Security checks at the entrance cannot be skipped and are mandatory. Bring ID matching the booking names and no large bags.
