Description
This Vatican Museums tour with the Sistine Chapel pairs a licensed guide with priority entry, so the time you would spend in the ticket queue goes to the art instead. Headsets keep the guide's voice clear throughout the visit, and the visit runs for about two and a half to three hours.
The route follows the museums' long galleries, where the guide fills in the stories behind the sculptures and the scandals and triumphs behind them. It ends in the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo's frescoes, from the Creation of Adam to the Last Judgment, are explained by the guide on the spot.
- Gallery of Maps and Gallery of Tapestries
- Raphael Rooms and the Pinacoteca Vaticana
- Museo Pio Clementino, with the Apollo Belvedere and the Laocoön
- Sistine Chapel
If you want more, add the basilica option when you book. It gives you entry to St. Peter's Basilica without the outdoor line, with Michelangelo's Pietà and Bernini's golden Baldachin to see. The guided part covers the museums and the chapel, not the basilica. Bring an ID for the security check and dress with shoulders and knees covered. The tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
