Description
St. Peter's Basilica priority entrance gives you a ticket to walk in ahead of the general queue, plus an audio guide that you carry on your own phone. You collect the tickets together with the codes for the app, activate the guide, download it so it works offline, and then wander the church for about two hours with no group to follow.
The commentary explains what the basilica means for the Catholic Church and for the wider world, and points you to the art inside. Two stops stand out: Michelangelo's Pietà and Bernini's Baldachin. Between them you can look at the scale of the architecture.
- Entry to the basilica with priority access
- Audio guide app in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and Dutch
- One code for each person
Bring earphones and a fully charged phone, and switch off silent mode so the audio plays. Choose your language when you book. The climb to the dome is not part of this ticket. Everyone goes through a security check at the entrance to Vatican City, and as the basilica is a place of worship, shoulders and knees must be covered. The Vatican can close it without notice.
