Description

The botanical garden of Rome is part of the Dept. of Plant Biology of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and is one of the most important in Italy, both for its size (about 12 hectares) and the number of species (about 8000).

Its plants are important not only for scientific purposes, but also because of the cultivation and reconstruction of the spaces, which help the visitor in recognizing the species.

In addition, the botanical garden is among the structures of this kind equipped for disabled people: there is a path and two scooters that allow to do steep routes.

A recent addition is the “Garden of aromatic herbs”, designed for the sightless, with aromatic and scented plants, plus others whose leaves have a special texture, together with signs in Braille placed at hand height.
